Initially, I came to the project with a basic knowledge of JS, I had never worked in a team before. In the very first days, the gaps in the base became apparent - along with mastering React I had to urgently "tighten up" everything I needed. Plus, the team format was more complicated than I expected. It is not at all like writing independent "pet projects", so to speak, "on the desk". Communication and self-organization skills are instantly sharpened. Joint choice of tools for work, cross-checking each other's code, refactoring after receiving comments from colleagues... Perhaps for the first time, I understood how one should work in the realm. Most of the tasks follow each other, you have to "dig in" to proofread other people's code and learn to work with it. With the right cross-review approach, you learn quickly - each team member has a different learning background, background knowledge set, and writing style. You learn a lot of new, practical things in the process. And the skill of understanding other people's code in our field is more important than even the ability to google).
My motto for the first few days is "nothing is understood, but it is very interesting. Several new tools - React itself, Typescript (haven't worked with it before), Next.js, state managers, full-fledged linter. A lot of time is spent on figuring out the specifics and all the nuances. It's scary to write bad code (now someone will see it!). Then you get used to it, it becomes easier. Towards the end, you already take things easy: Did something break somewhere? Okay, let's see and fix it).
